Club and fans come together in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity

A total of £5,316.50 was raised from the sales of Paul Mariner Day merchandise for last month's home game with Plymouth Argyle.

Limited edition mugs and scarves were available for supporters to purchase, with a percentage of profits then donated to The Brain Tumour Charity, which was chosen by Paul's family and friends.

Paul, who made 339 appearances for Town and 155 for the Pilgrims, sadly passed away last July at the age of 68 following a battle with brain cancer.

To honour the Blues and Argyle legend, the Club also arranged tributes on the day, with a flag display before kick-off, interviews with some of his former teammates in the matchday programme, and 'Magical Mariner Moments' being shown on the big screen in the FanZone before the match.

Some of Paul's friends and family were also guests of the Club and watched the game from the directors box.

On the Paul Mariner Day merchandise, a donation of £5 was made from each scarf sale, £3 from each mug sale and 30% of the profits from each sale of his biography, My Rock & Roll Football Story: Paul Mariner.

The majority of stock was sold on the day as Town beat Plymouth 1-0 at Portman Road, with some stock then made available online. The last few mugs and scarves (approximately 60 of each item) remain available in Planet Blue and online here.

The Club would like to thank supporters, including those from Plymouth Argyle, for their generosity.
