SKIPPER ON FINAL DAY SUCCESS

30 April 2022

"The fans have been amazing, and we can’t thank them enough for their continued support"

Sam Morsy paid tribute to the supporters after Town signed off their 2021/22 campaign with a 4-0 home victory over Charlton.

Goals from Tyreeq Bakinson and Wes Burns saw the Blues take a two-goal lead into the break, with Wes adding his second after the interval before James Norwood netted a fourth late on.

Town were backed by over 26,000 supporters at Portman Road, with the captain saying: "It was a great win and a great performance with great support.

"Everyone played really well and we’re delighted to win. Performances like that are what we are capable of. The fans have been amazing, and we can’t thank them enough for their continued support.

"It’s great to finish on a positive note but we’ve got a lot of work to now do ahead of next season.

"It was a very mixed season. We’re going to take all of the positives, learn from the negatives and hopefully it’s going to be a different season next year.

"Everyone is pulling in the right direction and it’s great to end on a high. We’re going to have a good summer then come back in pre-season ready to go."
