"Coming out on top in games like this is going to be massive for us if this is going to be a successful season"
Kieran McKenna says that Burton will present a ‘massive physical challenge’ when Town travel to Pirelli Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Blues go into the game sat top of the League One table and on the back of successive wins against Forest Green and MK Dons.
Meanwhile, Burton, who are winless in 2022/23 so far, had to settle for a point following two late goals for Accrington in a 4-4 draw on Saturday.
Town’s boss insists that the opening three fixtures of the campaign will have little bearing on the trip to Burton.
"It will be a very difficult game, there’s no two ways about it," he told iFollow Ipswich.
"At home they can be a handful for anyone. They have big threats in terms of their set plays and the balls they try to put in the box.
"Burton will be a massive physical challenge. They have pace, power and physicality all over the pitch. They will look to be very aggressive and we’re going to face a good amount of games like that in this division.
"Coming out on top in games like this is going to be massive for us if this is going to be a successful season.
"We know what we are in for but it’s up to us with how we stand up to that and how we impose ourselves.
"I don’t think what we did on Saturday or what we did against Forest Green will have much bearing. This is a whole new game and we need to be ready."
This week presents the first Saturday-Tuesday double-header in League One this term.
Kieran continued: "We have a few to check up on which is normal for the first Saturday-Tuesday of the season.
"We have no major issues. We have a few niggles and a few people who we’re not sure on if they will be available to go again. We will make the call on that tomorrow."
