DOM ON START TO LIFE AT TOWN

7 February 2022

"I thought I did fairly well but would say I built on that performance in the game against Gillingham"

Dominic Thompson says that, while he has settled in well at Town both on and off the pitch, the best is very much still to come from him.

The full-back, who is on loan at Portman Road for the remainder of the 2021/22 season, made his debut away to Sheffield Wednesday before notching his second Blues appearance in the win over Gillingham at the weekend.

"I came in and only had one day of training before the Sheffield Wednesday match, so it was a quick start," Dom said.

"I thought I did fairly well but would say I built on that performance in the game against Gillingham.

"There is definitely more to come from me, though. It can take a little bit of time to gel with a new team. I want to be on the same wavelength as the other players and that will come. Once you have that the football becomes more fluid.

"I'm enjoying the wing-back role as well. It's a position I am familiar with but I am still learning. I want to get forward and contribute further up the pitch.

"I think we saw that against Gillingham. I got into some good positions and had a chance in the first half but couldn't keep my shot down - next time I'll hopefully convert!

"The lads have been very welcoming and I am settling in well both on and off the pitch. I feel very comfortable and I want to develop and show what I can do."
