KIERAN ON WOMEN'S CUP TIE

27 February 2022

"To reach that stage of the FA Cup is a really good achievement already but we’re all hoping they can go one further"

Kieran McKenna says that Town Women progressing from their FA Cup last 16 tie against Southampton would be 'great for the whole Club'.

The Tractor Girls have already matched their best ever finish in the competition ahead of taking on their Women's National League Southern Premier Division rivals this afternoon.

Town Women host their Saints counterparts at the Goldstar Ground, Felixstowe in a 2pm kick-off.

Speaking about the potential of more Cup history for Joe Sheehan's side later today, Kieran said: "It would be brilliant.

"Since I came in I’ve had some good conversations with Joe and the other staff involved with that team. It’s great to hear and to see what a successful season they’ve been having.

"To reach that stage of the FA Cup is a really good achievement already but we’re all hoping they can go one further. It would be great for the whole Club if they could make that next step and go to the quarter-finals.

"Southampton are good rivals in that division so it will be a difficult game. We wish them all the best. Everyone is behind them and we hope it goes our way on Sunday."

A strong crowd is set to cheer on the Blues at the Goldstar Ground, with supporters able to pay on the day and prices available below:
