BOSS ON FRUSTRATING AFTERNOON

26 February 2022

"One of the things we're most disappointed at is conceding the goal, considering how little defending we had to do over the whole game"

Kieran McKenna said there was an overriding feeling of disappointment following Town's 1-1 draw with Morecambe this afternoon.

It took an 86th-minute strike from Wes Burns to salvage a point for the Blues at Mazuma Stadium, Aaron Wildig having headed the hosts in front on the hour mark.

Town dominated in almost every aspect in Lancashire, limiting the home side to just one shot on target, but were made to pay for missed chances over the 90 minutes.

"There are different ways to look at the match and performance, but it's very much a feeling of overriding disappointment," Kieran told iFollow Ipswich.

"I'm proud of the fact we put in a very good performance and there were some really good aspects to our play. We also produced a very high calibre of football on a difficult pitch, and created plenty of chances.

"But on the other side, we need to win games. It's two points dropped for sure. One of the things we're most disappointed at is conceding the goal, considering how little defending we had to do over the whole game.

"Credit to the players, though, as they kept going and they kept believing after the setback. We equalised late and still, with just a few minutes to play, we had Janoi [Donacien] storming into their six yard box and the goalkeeper making a great save to deny him.

"Disappointment is the main emotion as I say, but from a logical point of view we will take things from the game that I think show we are going in the right direction."
