Three nominees as Town pick up three wins in first month of 2022

Supporters can now vote for the Greene King Player of the Month for January.

The Blues played five fixtures to start 2022, picking up three wins and a total of nine points.

Kieran McKenna's side ran riot at Gillingham to kick off the month, before bouncing back from defeat to Bolton by coming from behind to beat Accrington Stanley at Portman Road.

The third success came a week ago, with a 2-0 win away to AFC Wimbledon, before narrowly losing out against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday.

The nominees for the Greene King Player of the Month for January are:

  • Wes Burns
  • Christian Walton
  • Luke Woolfenden

Wes scored four goals in the month after notching Town's second at MEMS Priestfield Stadium and equalising against Stanley at home, before then bagging a brace against The Dons seven days ago.

Christian, after signing a permanent contract at the Club earlier in the month, produced some strong performances and made some key saves over the period. A superb stop to deny Stanley a second goal proved to be vital, with the Blues levelling the scores just 60 seconds after he had tipped Matt Butcher's strike on to his crossbar.

Luke played his part in keeping two clean sheets in Town's five games, and played every minute for Town in January.
