Stunning achievement as trio set Guinness World Record in rowing challenge

iFollow Ipswich spoke to Town fan Tom Rose earlier today.

Tom, who is from Nacton, recently completed the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge that saw him row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean.

He formed part of a three-person team along with friends James and Taylor, with the group setting off from La Gomera in the Canary Islands and finishing in Antigua & Barbuda. The team were away for 40 days, and were out at sea over Christmas and New Year. They set a Guinness World Record for fastest mixed trio to complete the route, which is considered the premier event in ocean rowing.

They faced waves up to 15ft in height, and gave it everything to combat all challenges such as dehydration, sleep deprivation, hunger, pulled muscles and blisters.

Joe will be in attendance for the home fixture with Gillingham this weekend, and will be doing a pitchside interview at half-time.
