FAMILY SHOW SUPPORT FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED TOWN SUPPORTERS

15 July 2022

Gomer family show community spirit

A family of Town fans living in Germany have shown their support for less fortunate families by donating their season tickets for the 2022/23 campaign when they are unable to use them.

The Gomer family, who live in Munich, travel to Portman Road when they can and will likely make it to three or four games in Suffolk this season.

When their season tickets are not in use, the Ipswich Town Foundation will arrange for underprivileged supporters to enjoy the matchday experience on their behalf.

"Like many life-long Town fans, I have been inspired by the new order at Portman Road and the plans for the future," Lindsay Gomer, 57, told the Foundation website.

"However, living in Germany with a young family I have been challenged by how to get closer to the Club.

"iFollow Ipswich, social media and merchandise are great, but this year we decided we wanted to go one step further. We are thrilled to have invested in four family season tickets for the upcoming campaign.

"Realistically, we will only make a few games a season, so we wanted the seats to go to others who couldn't otherwise afford to go. We are therefore very grateful that the Foundation will match up the seats to Town fans in the community for matches we cannot attend."

"As a Foundation we are so grateful to Lindsay and his family for their generosity," Sarah Dooley, Funding & Events Officer for the Foundation, added.

"We are looking forward to meeting Lindsay and his family at the first game of the season against Bolton Wanderers on 30 July, where we can thank them personally.

"We will be working with local organisations to find families to offer the tickets to on a match-by-match basis throughout the 2022/23 campaign.”

Everyone at Ipswich Town and the Ipswich Town Foundation thanks Lindsay and his family for their generosity and community spirit as well as their loyal support of the Club.
