Boss' thoughts on final pre-season outing

Kieran McKenna was pleased with the calibre of goals that his Town side scored in a 3-1 pre-season friendly success over Southend this evening.

Tyreece John-Jules, Greg Leigh and Freddie Ladapo all found the back of the net as the Blues finished pre-season with victory under the Portman Road lights.

"They were very good goals," Kieran told iFollow Ipswich.

"It was good movement from Tyreece on the set play and I thought he was excellent in the first half.

"He's getting stronger by the week and it was good for him to get his first goal at Portman Road.

"The second goal was a lovely team move and Kyle [Edwards] got the assist which is important for him to add to his numbers. It was a well worked move and a good assist for Greg who took it well.

"The third goal was also good. Freddie has strong penalty box presence and got up well for the a nice cross.

"It's been a pre-season of good lessons and tonight was also a good night. There were no injuries on the night and we're looking forward to Saturday."
