"He’ll be looking forward to it and that he’s strong personality so we have every confidence in him"
Kieran Mckenna was full of praise for Cameron Burgess ahead of what is likely to be the centre-back's first start under the Town boss tomorrow.
Cameron came off the bench in Tuesday night's 2-0 win over Lincoln at Portman Road, replacing the injured George Edmundson.
George is set for a period of time on the sidelines with his issue being confirmed as ankle ligament damage, the 24-year-old now unlikely to feature until the latter stages of the season.
Town's manager, though, has 'every confidence' in George's expected replacement, Cameron.
"I spoke on Tuesday night about Cam Burgess; how he’s conducted himself and applied himself over the last couple of months that I’ve been here," said Kieran.
"He’s been excellent so I’m happy for him that he’s going to get his opportunity to play on Saturday and then obviously in some more games going forward.
"We were always going to pick up injuries at this stage of the season, everybody does, but that’s why we have a squad. We have a strong squad and we’re ready for whatever comes our way.
"When you train how Cameron trains, which is to a really high intensity with a really high level of focus every day, I don’t think in the centre-back position there’s going to be too many issues. Physically, he showed that he was able to step into the intensity of the game because that’s the intensity he works at every day.
"Cameron is fully attuned with our key principles on and off the ball, and the requirements for his role in different phases of the game. I know with Cam that he’ll be looking forward to it and that he’s a strong personality so we have every confidence in him."
