"Once we got the first goal we didn't really look back"
Kieran McKenna thought his side had good movement and good penetration in tonight's 2-0 win over Lincoln City at Portman Road.
First-half goals from Wes Burns and Kayden Jackson saw the Blues to a comfortable three points, with almost 25,000 fans in attendance under the lights.
"It was a good night's work," Kieran told iFollow Ipswich
"That's not easy when you are coming off a long trip to Fleetwood at the weekend, and 90 minutes on a heavy pitch.
"There was some quality to our play, though, as well as a good intensity. Our work rate was good and we broke through the lines well. We made some good moves, had movement off the ball and got into encouraging areas. We got our rewards for that in the first half.
"I thought we started strongly as well, and that's an indication that the preparation is good and the lads are focused. Once we got the first goal we didn't really look back.
"Lincoln put some pressure on us which can make things difficult, but it can also open spaces up. We had a threat behind and down the sides, and I was pleased with our penetration this evening.
"We worked as a team and it was a good night. We're now fully focused on a big home game against Portsmouth at the weekend."
