Academy graduate extends Town stay until summer of 2025
Luke Woolfenden has signed a new three-year deal at Town.
The defender, who has scored two goals for the Club in a total of 107 appearances, was contracted until 2024 but has now penned a deal that will see him remain at Portman Road for a further 12 months.
Having featured in every game for the Blues since Kieran McKenna’s arrival in December, Woolfy has cemented a first-team spot and played his part as Town set a Club record with a run of 548 minutes without conceding a goal in February.
The 23-year-old, who is Ipswich-born and a product of the Club’s Academy, made a total of 38 appearances in 2021/22.
“I was really enjoying my football in the second half of last season, and I am delighted to have signed a new contract,” Woolfy told iFollow Ipswich.
“Working with the boss has been great and I am also enjoying my role in the team.
“I believe the Club is only going in one direction and I want to be a part of it, with an immediate aim of promotion next season.”
“Luke applied himself well last season and put in some strong performances for us,” Kieran McKenna added.
“He contributed defensively but also played a part in starting attacks and driving us forward. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with him so far, and I look forward to seeing him continue to focus and grow as a player at the Club.”
An interview with Luke Woolfenden will be available on iFollow Ipswich later today.
