Curtis brace helps young Blues to three points

Town U21s secured a 4-1 win over Cardiff City in the Professional Development League this afternoon.

A brace from Harley Curtis as well as efforts from Leon Ayinde and Tawanda Chirewa saw the young Blues pick up a comfortable three points at Playford Road.

John McGreal's side were quick out the blocks and opened the scoring after just two minutes as Curtis netted his first of the afternoon.

Just nine minutes later he fired in his and Town's second, with Ayinde then notching a third eight minutes before half-time.

The hosts maintained control in the second period and put the result beyond any doubt with a Chirewa penalty in the 76th minute.

Cardiff did score a consolation six minutes before the end, but it was a comfortable victory for the young Blues at Playford Road.

Town face Cardiff again on Friday, with a 11am kick-off in the Welsh capital.
