Travelling to Home Park

Car

The Sat Nav postcode for the stadium is PL2 3DQ, although you may want to use the postcode for your chosen parking.

The likely driving time by car is six to seven hours depending on traffic conditions. There are long-term roadworks on the M25, including at the junction with the M3 and for many miles on the M3, so do make sure you allow enough time.

From Ipswich take the A12 and join the M25 anti-clockwise (signposted M11/M1/Stansted Airport/Watford) (if you choose to go clockwise on the M25 to the M3, remember to pay the Dartford Crossing toll). At junction 12, merge onto the M3, signposted Southampton. At junction 8 of the M3 join the A303, signposted Andover/Salisbury. Eventually, join the A30. From the A30 take the M5(S) slip road to Plymouth/Torquay/Okehampton. Continue onto the A38/Devon Expressway following signs for Plymouth/Torquay/A380. From the A38 use the left lane to take the A386 slip road to City centre/Tavistock/Torpoint/A374.

The stadium is well signposted from the A38. Exit the A38 at the Manadon Roundabout, taking the 2nd exit towards the city centre (signposted Plymouth Argyle and Ferry Port and A386).  Remain on Outland Road for around one mile. Home Park should appear into your view on the left-hand side. Take the next available left and you will arrive at the stadium’s large car park (actually, a park & ride – detail below).

Note, there is an alternative route via Bristol, taking the A12/M25/M4/M5/A38. This is a fair bit further, and usually takes about half an hour longer, but some people do prefer to be on dual carriageways the whole of the journey, and it does avoid the possible long delays around the M25/M3 junction on the outward journey (it isn’t usually so bad on the return trip).

Parking

Outland Road Car Park (Milehouse Park & Ride car park), adjacent to Home Park, is a very large free car park, right next to the stadium.

It is managed by the local council, but is also a park-and-ride car park serving Plymouth city centre. It is free to use but can get very busy. It is also used by drivers accessing the city centre, nearby recreational park, sports centre and by users of the nearby Plymouth Life Centre (PL2 3DF).

There is also street parking in the areas surrounding Home Park (head from the stadium away from town and towards the A38), but be mindful of local residents and check for any parking restrictions and permit areas.

Train/bus

On the day of the game there are planned engineering works with buses replacing trains between Witham and Ingatestone. As a result there are no options getting you to Plymouth in time for kick-off.

If you choose to travel on Saturday (when there are no planned engineering works) and stay overnight, there are options from Ipswich which take around five hours. Trains to Plymouth leave from London Paddington. The quickest way from London Liverpool Street is via the Elizabeth Line. Alternatively, take the Metropolitan Line to Baker Street and change for the Bakerloo Line to London Paddington; or take the Central Line to Oxford Circus where you change onto the Bakerloo Line to Paddington. From Stratford, take the Elizabeth Line to Paddington.

After the game, http://www.greateranglia.co.uk/ shows a number of options from Plymouth back to Ipswich with buses between Ingatestone and Witham.  The overall journey time is around six hours 20 minutes to six hours 40 minutes depending on connections and changes.  We haven’t included full details as most fans won’t be travelling by train. If you do need any more information please get in touch.

Whatever your travel plans, you should check http://www.greateranglia.co.uk/ or your usual train operator website for updated times.

Getting to the ground from the station/town centre

Walk

If you are staying in Plymouth or are in the town centre on the morning of the game, make your way towards the railway station. Plymouth railway station is just a mile away from Home Park.  There is a paved walking route which takes you through Central Park straight to the stadium, taking around 20/25 minutes from the railway station. Plymouth provide the following route: “Simply exit the station and walk down Saltash Road to the roundabout at the bottom of the hill and follow the pavement around to the right to briefly join Russell Place, before turning left up onto Holdsworth Street. Walk straight up the road and continue straight on to join the path leading into the park, and follow this until you reach the stadium. Please note that although picturesque, a portion of the walk is up a steep hill and so we would not suggest this route for those with access or mobility issues (see bus below).”

Note, that if you are not starting your walk near the station, depending where in Plymouth you are starting the walk from, you may need to add up to another 25 minutes. For example, from Plymouth Hoe, the estimated walk time to the ground is 45 minutes.

Taxi

If you are unable to walk, or prefer not to, there is a taxi rank located just outside the main entrance of the railway station. A cab to Home Park should take no longer than five minutes and cost no more than £5.

If you would prefer to pre-book a taxi, Plymouth Argyle recommend Need-a-cab (01752 666222) or Tower Cabs (01752 252525).

Buses

Plymouth recommend the number 60 service (Plymouth Citybus) which stops at the Railway Station bus stop which is directly accessible via a footbridge from the station entrance and stops on Outland Road, close to Home Park. This service and the number 61 are suggested for those parking in the town centre.

Pubs and food outlets

Many Town fans will remember fondly the Pennycomequick pub, very near the station – sadly, this pub is no more.

The Britannia, a large Wetherspoon (PL2 3AA), is less than 10 minutes’ walk from the ground and 15 minutes from the station. Otherwise, the Cherry Tree (PL2 3NH) is the other side of the ground, towards the A38.

If you have more time in Plymouth, there is a waterfront a bit like the one at home in Ipswich, with many pubs, bars and restaurants in and around. Just off the waterfront is the Plymouth Gin Distillery, which offers tours with tasting (and the Gog & Magog Wetherspoon, likely to be a bit quieter than the Britannia). This area is around a 40-minute walk uphill to the ground though.

At the ground

The stadium lies adjacent to Central Park, a large, communal green space with a number of playing fields, community cafes and walking routes. Just beyond and below the park lies the city's train station, and the city centre a short walk further.

Here to Help team

When we have attended Town Women games at Plymouth previously, the ‘Here to Help’ team have been found around the ground in purple high-vis jackets. If you have any questions, need help with directions or want to find out what is going on around the ground then do ask them.

Programmes

Plymouth Argyle Women produce a digital programme. This can be downloaded via the link they usually put on their X and Facebook accounts.

Food and drink

All catering kiosks are card payments only.

Bar and refreshment facilities are located within the concourse. These offer hot and cold food as well as soft and alcoholic drinks.

Smoking

Smoking of cigarettes and e-cigarettes anywhere in the stadium is not permitted.

Bags

As with all major sporting events, taking bags to the stadium is actively discouraged. However, fans arriving at Home Park with a small personal bag (for example, medical bags or handbags) capable of being stowed under seats will be pleased that these are permitted.

Security

Supporters can expect to be searched by the Argyle security team as they enter the stadium. The safety team will ensure that this is as comfortable and non-invasive as possible.

The club will ensure that any searches are undertaken by security members of the same gender.
