Town Women moved one step closer to clinching the FAWNL Southern Premier Division title with an emphatic 11-0 win over MK Dons.
Six goals from Sophie Peskett, two each from Natasha Thomas and Lucy O’Brien, and a goal from Ella Rutherford sealed all three points for the Blues at Stadium MK.
Town scored their first goal of the game three minutes in when Ruby Seaby crossed in from the right towards Thomas who got up well to send a header back into the far corner.
Thomas got Town’s second on 19 minutes when she picked up the ball on the edge of the area, with her effort into the bottom left corner beating the outstretched Megan Dellar.
Two minutes later Peskett had Town’s third after she danced past two defenders and finished high into the roof of the net.
On 33 minutes Town got a fourth as Peskett picked up the ball on the edge of the box and drilled a shot into the bottom left corner.
Peskett completed a first-half hat-trick just before the break with a neat strike across Dellar from just inside the box.
After a scrappy start to the second half Peskett made it six on 62 minutes when O'Brien pulled the ball back towards Town’s No. 17 who fired home from six-yards out.
On 77 minutes Rutherford made it seven when she was well-placed to head home onto Kyra Robertson’s cross from the right after some nice build up play.
Within minutes it was 8-0 when Peskett’s cross wasn’t dealt with by the Dons defence, with O’Brien unmarked at the back post to tap into an open net.
Peskett made it nine 84 minutes in when her effort from outside the area was too fierce for Dellar to keep out.
O’Brien made it 10-0 with the goal of the game after she picked up the ball deep inside her own half and went on a mazy run before calmly finishing past the ‘keeper.
Peskett scored her sixth of the afternoon in stoppage time when she weaved her way into the box before slotting the ball home to cap an incredible individual and team display.
