Travelling to the Ocean Park Arena
By road
Note: On September 17 2023, the Welsh Government introduced a default 20mph speed limit on restricted roads across Wales. "Restricted roads" are defined as follows: usually located in residential and built-up areas where there are lots of people. They often have street lights on them, placed no more than 200 yards apart. For more information click here and here.
The postcode for Ocean Park Arena is CF24 5HF.
From Ipswich, take the A12 to the M25. Take the M25 anticlockwise and at junction 15 join the M4 towards Slough. Leave the M4 to join the A48(M), following signs for Cardiff (E) / Cardiff (S)/Caerdydd(Dn) / Caerdydd (D). Leave the A48 taking the A4232 to Cardiff (E), Caerdydd (Dn) / Docks / Dociau. Stay on the A4232 and at the roundabout, take the second exit onto Rover Way. Follow Rover Way until you come to a roundabout (with the A4232) – take the second exit onto Ocean Way. Continue on Ocean Way – go through one roundabout and then turn right onto Beignon Close. You will then see Ocean Park Arena.
www.googlemaps.co.uk suggests it will take between four to four-and-a-half hours. We would recommend allowing at least an hour and ideally 90 minutes beyond the AA / Google / Sat Nav suggested journey time.
Parking
There is free parking at the Ocean Park Arena.
Train / Walk
Ocean Park Arena is about 1.2 miles (30-minute walk) from Cardiff Central Station. Alternatively, there will be taxis available at Cardiff Central Station.
It is possible to travel by train leaving Ipswich on the 07:35 train. At Liverpool Street take the Elizabeth Line to Paddington where you pick up a train at 09:31 to Cardiff Central. This is scheduled to arrive into Cardiff at 11:27. This should allow time to get to the ground for kick-off, but doesn’t really allow for any delays on route.
After the game, there are trains shown on https://www.greateranglia.co.uk/ from Cardiff at 16:20 16:50 and 17:20 which are scheduled to get you to Ipswich at 20:03, 20:35 and 21:30 respectively. If you catch the 16:20 or 16:50, make your way from London Paddington on the Elizabeth Line to Stratford (19:05 and 19:25 respectively) for a train to Ipswich. The 17:20 connects to the 20:08 from London Liverpool Street on the Elizabeth Line.
Given that most fans are likely to go by road we haven’t included any further information. If you require any help (for example, the walking directions from the station) please do get in touch.
Pubs and food outlets
If you are in the area early, Cardiff city centre has plenty of pubs and food outlets, although with a 1pm kick-off there will be limited time to enjoy before the game. Cardiff Bay is also fairly close by.
Nearer to the stadium is the Ocean Park Brewers Fayre (East Moors Industrial Estate, Keen Rd, Cardiff, CF24 5JT) which is next to the Premier Inn Cardiff City South.
At the ground
Gates will open at 12noon.
There is a Sports Café at the ground with drinks and hot/cold food available. Alcohol will be available from the bar.
Dogs are welcome.
Programmes
Gwalia produce a digital programme, with the link available on their X account leading up to the game.
