The Town Academy graduate made his first-team debut away at Bristol City in 2019 and made three further appearances that season. 

The midfielder made another nine appearances at the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign before heading out on loan, firstly to Cambridge United where he scored once in seven games. 

He returned to the Abbey Stadium for a second loan the following season, before finishing the 2020/21 campaign at Grimsby Town. 

Idris spent the entirety of 2021/22 at Portman Road, scoring an excellent goal at Oldham in the FA Cup during a run of 12 appearances in all competitions, before a hugely successful loan spell with Leyton Orient followed in 2022/23. 

The Town midfielder won the League Two title with his loan club, making 44 appearances and scoring three goals during a season which ended with him winning the club’s Player-of-the-Season award.
