This guide is very comprehensive and well worth a read.

Travelling to Preston North End
For those travelling from Ipswich the official coaches are leaving Portman Road at 06:45 at a cost of £37 for adults (with concession prices for U23s, U19s and 65+ Seniors), and are estimated to arrive back at Portman Road at 23:00. Coach travel is now on sale, subject to the usual priorities, and can be booked onwww.itfcdirect.com or in Planet Blue on a non-matchday or the Ticket Enquiry Centre on Portman Road on a Saturday match day.
There is a planned stop at Peterborough Services on the outward trip and Blyth Services on the return trip.
Pick-ups at Stowmarket, Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket can be arranged for this game. If you want to organise a pick-up please call the Ticket Enquiries Team on 03330 050503 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. The cut-off point to request a pickup is midday on Tuesday 2 April. Your details will then be passed onto the coach company, Galloway Travel Group.
Note that all official coaches are non-smoking and the consumption of alcohol on board is strictly forbidden. ITFC recommend that all supporters under 16 are accompanied by an adult.
The long-term roadworks on the A14 (several miles either side of Cambridge) are resulting in evening and weekend road closures. These are not normally announced until just a day or two in advance. We recommend that you keep an eye on @A14C2H on Twitter – any closures are announced here.
The Sat Nav postcode for Deepdale is PR1 6RU.
From Ipswich, there are two main road options. The first is A14 / M6, which is reasonably direct, but runs the risk of hold-ups. As noted above there are major long-term roadworks on the A14 for several miles either side of Cambridge, with a 40mph limit policed by cameras. The M6 currently has several, very long roadwork sections with a 50mph limit that will add yet more time to the journey.
Leave the M6 at Junction 31 and follow the A59 (signposted Preston A59). After one mile, at the mini roundabout, by the Hesketh Arms, take the second exit onto the Blackpool Road A5085. Carry straight on for 1.2 miles, through four sets of traffic lights and then turn left before the lights (signposted Town Centre, Football Ground) into Sir Tom Finney Way. Deepdale will be on the right.
The other route takes you along the A14 to Huntingdon where you join the A1. From the A14 you join the M62 and then the M61. Very soon after you join the M6, you will exit at Junction 31, and follow the instructions above. See the note above re the A14 roadworks.
Whichever way you go, it is likely to take well over four-and-a-half hours, and you should allow at least another hour beyond the AA / Google / SatNav suggested journey time, to allow for possible delays.
There is various street parking available around the ground. From experience we have often found parking on or just off the Blackpool Road, within a 10-minute walk from the ground.
Stadium parking is priced at £15 per vehicle and sold in advance of the fixture date, subject to availability. If you want to park at the stadium you should contact the Preston North End ticket office for availability on either 0344 856 1966 or email@example.com.
Matchday car parking is also offered at the Moor Park school on Moor Park Avenue, which is on the south-west side of the ground (you walk past it if you stroll up to the ground from the town centre). This car park is fully stewarded on matchdays. From the Blackpool Road, turn left immediately after the stadium onto what is now Sir Tom Finney Way (your map will probably still call it Deepdale Road), and you’ll find the car park just past Moor Park on the right.
Note that matchday parking is not allowed at the Deepdale Retail Park on the Blackpool Road so if you do leave your car there it will be at your own risk.
Disabled Supporters Parking
The Bill Shankly Kop car park has four disabled parking bays for visiting supporters. These are available to book in advance. These are priced at £15 and sold subject to availability. To book and check availability contact the Preston North End ticket office. Alternatively, you can contact ITFC by email on firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on 01473 400556 and ask for their assistance.
Note, that there are two drop off points which can be used by away supporters. These are outside the Sir Tom Finney Stand and Invincibles Pavilion.
Note 1: Euston station is closed over the Easter weekend. Trains will depart from Harrow and Wealdstone to Preston.
Note 2: There are no planned engineering works on the Ipswich to London line. A Saturday timetable will be in operation.
www.greateranglia.co.uk shows cross-country routes for the journey to Preston with two changes. The 06:16 train from Ipswich with changes at Cambridge and Birmingham arrives in Preston at 12:51. Leaving Ipswich at 08:03 with changes at Peterborough and York, you will arrive in Preston at 13:38.
For the return journey, www.greateranglia.co.uk indicates a cross-country journey leaving Preston at 17:47. This goes via Manchester Piccadilly and Ely arriving back in Ipswich at 23:21.
Due to the closure of Euston station, if you are travelling via London, from London Liverpool Street you will need to go to Harrow and Wealdstone to pick up the train to Preston. www.tfl.gov.uk suggests the Metropolitan Line from Liverpool Street to Northwick Park. Walk from Northwick Park to Kenton (12 minute walk) where you pick up the Bakerloo Line to Harrow and Wealdstone. Alternatively, take the Central Line to Oxford Circus and pick up the Bakerloo Line to Harrow and Wealdstone.
The train service is roughly every hour, and slower than usual as there are additional stops. The 10:14 from Harrow & Wealdstone is scheduled to arrive into Preston at 12:38. The first train back after the game leaves Preston at 17:58 but does not arrive into Harrow & Wealdstone until 20:23. Some later journeys on the return trip require a change in Crewe.
Whatever your travel plans, it’s worth checking www.greateranglia.co.uk for updated times and any late changes to engineering works.
Getting to the ground from the station
Preston railway station is about two miles from Deepdale. The station is situated in the city centre.
To walk to Deepdale, come out of the side exit of the station and turn left in front of the Fishergate Centre. You will pass the Railway Pub. At the T-junction turn right. Walk straight along Fishergate, which is the main shopping street (take care to ignore the left fork onto Corporation Street). After approximately three-quarters of a mile the road becomes Church Street – the parish church will be on your right-hand side. Carry on until you reach the junction with the A6 / A59. Cross over the road (the prison will be on your right-hand-side and a demolition site (formerly the County Arms public house) on the left). Turn left so the demolition site is now on your right - this is Deepdale Road. The stadium is on the right-hand-side after 0.75 miles.
Taxis are also available from outside the station – these will cost around £5 to take you to Deepdale.
(Instructions based on the Preston Away Supporters Guide)
There are plenty of pubs in Preston town centre which are within walking distance of the station, and, over the years, we’ve enjoyed many of them. But there may be restrictions on away fans in many town centre pubs (it seems to vary from year to year) – we are aware that away fans have been sometimes been refused service, sometimes moved on by police, and sometimes threatened by locals – but also often been made very welcome. Best advice is the usual for away trips - if you are or feel unwelcome, move on and you’re likely to find somewhere more accommodating fairly quickly! The Preston Away Supporters Guide includes a map showing some of the pubs which are more likely to be away-friendly.
These include the Old Vic, Station Hotel, Adelphi, Roper Hall and Yates’. Preston advise that for some fixtures, pubs may be allocated as designated away pubs – they suggest that we follow their official police Twitter account @PNEPolice who provide updates and advice ahead of all games.
Deepdale Retail Park on the Blackpool Road is around a ten minute walk from the stadium. It has various food and shopping outlets. Note that matchday parking is not allowed at the retail park so if you do leave your car there it will be at your own risk.
There is a Sainsbury’s just over the road from Deepdale, no more than a five minute walk. It has a restaurant area and from experience this is where many Town fans head for food before the game. Sainsbury’s also has a petrol station and garage should you need to fill up before your journey home. Matchday parking is not permitted at Sainsbury’s and vehicles are left at the owner’s risk.
There are free to use cash machines at Sainsbury’s and at the Spar on Blackpool Road.
At the ground
Before you go in
There are two must see things before you go into the stadium:
1) Sir Tom Finney Statue - The ‘Splash’
Preston North End’s most famous player, Sir Tom Finney, unveiled his signature ‘Splash’ statue in 2004 which was inspired from a photograph taken at a waterlogged Stamford Bridge in a match versus Chelsea in 1956.
Around the statue are a number of special bricks forming the ‘Walk of Fame’, with the bricks bearing the names of supporters and ex-Preston North End players.
2) The Dick, Kerr Ladies monument
Friday 22nd December 2017, saw the unveiling of a monument to remember the fantastic efforts and achievements of the Dick, Kerr Ladies, at Deepdale. The Dick, Kerr Ladies were one of the first ladies football teams in England and arguably the most successful ladies team of all-time, playing from 1917 until 1965. You will find this monument overlooking the Sir Tom Finney Splash statue on the wall just around the left hand corner to the Sir Tom Finney Stand ticket office and club store. They set a record for a ladies’ club match back on Boxing Day 1920, when 53,000 (with 10,000 locked out) saw them beat St Helens at Goodison Park – this Europe-wide record for womens football was only beaten a couple of weeks ago, when Atletico Madrid played Barcelona in front of just over 60,000 fans.
Tickets on the day?
It is not yet known whether tickets will be available on the day of the match. This information will be published on the club website (www.itfc.co.uk), Twitter (@IpswichTown) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/officialitfc) as soon as the information is available.
Should tickets be available on the day, you will be able to purchase these from the away ticket office which is situated outside the Bill Shankly Kop. Both cash and card payments are accepted. If for any reason you need to collect your tickets when you arrive at Deepdale, these will also be available to collect from the away ticket office.
The away ticket office opens two hours before kick-off. Note that Preston will not refund or replace any visiting supporters’ tickets.
We will be located in the Bill Shankly Kop which is behind the goal.
Preston North End advise that for any concession tickets sold, the concessionary age may be challenged at the turnstile, so it is advisable to bring the relevant identification with you.
The Bill Shankly Kop has both elevated and pitch level viewing areas for wheelchair users. The pitch level bays are located in blocks L, Q and R, with 22 spaces. There are three spaces available on the elevated platform which is situated in block K. Preston North End advise that these may be away from our main allocation of tickets.
Ambulant disabled supporters can sit anywhere within the away ticket allocation, providing this is safe and accessible to do so. Preston recommends that ambulant disabled supporters with walking difficulties/difficulties climbing stairs should sit on the front couple of rows for safety purposes.
If you require wheelchair or ambulant disabled tickets then you should contact ITFC on email@example.com or by phone on 01473 400556.
Disabled supporters who require pitch level entry should enter Deepdale via NX07 which is the disabled access door at the Bill Shankly Kop. Please make yourself known to a steward upon arrival who will be more than happy to assist.
For visually impaired supporters, Preston North End have two wireless receivers available. These provide live match commentary from Hospital Radio. These must be booked no later than 5pm on the day before the fixture via the Preston North End Disability Liaison Officer, Hannah Woodburn. Hannah can be contacted on 0344 856 1966 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are two accessible toilets in the visitors section which are fitted with radar locks.
Deepdale also has a Changing Places facility in the Invincibles Pavilion (home stand), which can be used by visiting supporters should this be a requirement.
The “One and Only” Matchday Programme can be purchased from around the ground for £3.
As at all grounds expect to be searched prior to entering the stadium.
Food and Drink facilities
The kiosks sell a wide range of food and drink. Details, including prices, are provided in the Preston North End Away Supporters Guide.
We understand that alcohol will be on sale.
The Away Supporters Guide mentions a waiter service on request for disabled supporters who cannot access the kiosk facilities. Kiosk staff issue supporters with an order form, the items and quantities are selected and then the kiosk staff will deliver the products to their seat. This service is available just after kick off.
Deepdale is a no smoking venue. This also applies to the use electronic cigarettes (and/or similar products).
Banners and flags, and musical instruments
If you are wanting to take banners, flags or musical instruments to the game you will need to contact the Deepdale ground safety department on 0344 856 1964 or email@example.com in advance of the game. More information is given in the Preston North End Away Supporters Guide.
The use of threatening behaviour, foul or abusive language is strictly forbidden at the Deepdale. If you witness any inappropriate behaviour please speak to a steward.
You can also report any discrimination or anti-social behaviour to Kick it Out using the Kick It Out app which is available to download from the App Store or Google Play, or via: Facebook /kickitoutofficial; Twitter @kickitout; email firstname.lastname@example.org; phone 0800 169 9414.
Preston North End Hospitality
Preston North End offer hospitality packages to visiting supporters in the Sir Tom Finney Lounge or The Greats Room. Details are in the Preston North End Away Supporters Guide.
