Travelling to QPR
For those travelling from Ipswich the coach from Portman Road is a good option. Coaches park outside the away end.
Official coach travel is now on sale and can be booked on www.itfcdirect.com or in Planet Blue. See the ticket sales section above for important information about sale dates.
The coaches are leaving Portman Road at 10:30 at a cost of £21 for adults (with concession prices for U23s, U19s and 65+), and are estimated to arrive back at Portman Road at 20:00.
There are no planned stops.
Pick-ups at Marks Tey can be arranged for this game. If you want to organise a pick-up please call the Ticket Enquiries Team on 03330 050503 or email email@example.com. The cut-off point to request a pickup is midday on Wednesday 19th. Your details will then be passed onto the coach company, Galloway Travel Group.
Note that all official coaches are non-smoking and the consumption of alcohol on board is strictly forbidden. ITFC recommend that all supporters under 16 are accompanied by an adult.
Note the parking issues described below. From Ipswich take the A12. Join the M25 towards the M11/M1/Stansted/Watford and leave at the M11 junction, heading towards London. At junction 4 of the M11, use the right-hand lane to take the A406(W) exit to the A503/A10/A1/North Circular. Follow the North Circular Road around North London and eventually turn onto the A40 (Western Avenue). The ground is near Shepherds Bush, on South Africa Road, at W12 7PJ. Note that there are some road closures around the ground from 90 minutes prior to kick-off.
Note that Boxing Day traffic is likely to be very heavy on the North Circular, as there are retail parks at several locations. You could alternatively avoid these by staying on the M25 all the way round to the M40, where you turn towards London on the A40.
QPR advises supporters travelling to the ground to use public transport if possible.
Parking is extremely limited around the stadium due to its urban location. There may be some street parking available in the roads close to the ground but check local road signs before parking as there are restricted parking zones. Note that there are some road closures around the stadium from 90 minutes prior to kick-off. If your car is obviously from Ipswich, you have a higher-than normal risk of someone taking exception to it while you’re away.
The website www.footballgroundguide.com mentions parking at the Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherds Bush. This costs £8 but if you sign up in advance to their Smart Parking Scheme (https://uk.westfield.com/london/centre-info/getting-here), you can park for £6. Please bear in mind that traffic will be very heavy around Westfield, given that it is Boxing Day.
A better option might be to park at or near a tube station further west on the Central Line. Otherwise, there are very frequent bus services along the A40 to and from the stadium, so parking anywhere along that route from Ealing eastwards can be a good option.
There are no trains on Boxing Day. Trains are also not running on the London Overground network or on TFL Rail.
If you are starting in London or driving part-way, London Underground trains will be running, as will bus services.
There are several tube stations within walking distance of Loftus Road. These are White City on the Central Line, which is a five-minute walk away, or Shepherd’s Bush on the Central Line which is around 15 minutes’ walk from the ground. Another option is the renamed ‘Shepherd’s Bush Market’ which is on the Hammersmith & City Line.
We recommend you check www.tfl.gov.uk which has an excellent journey planner, as there are several options.
Getting from the Tube to the Ground
From White City, turn right along Wood Lane and then, after crossing Wood Lane, turn left into South Africa Road. For the Ellerslie Road turnstiles go to the end of South Africa Road. Turn left into Bloemfontein Road and then left into Ellerslie Road.
From Shepherd’s Bush station walk along the Uxbridge Road, past Shepherd’s Bush Market station. Turn right up either Loftus Road or Bloemfontein Road. From Loftus Road turn left into Ellerslie Road. From Bloemfontein Road turn right into Ellerslie Road.
There are no away-friendy pubs in the vicinity of the stadium nowadays. Most fans stay around Shepherd’s Bush Green, where there are many pubs and bars. Reports suggest that the vast majority are home fans only, though many Town fans have said that they have found several that are welcoming. The recognised away pub is Belushi’s (opposite Shepherd’s Bush tube), though we have always found some Town fans in the Wetherspoons in the adjacent shopping centre. Note that it is advisable to cover colours (unless you are in Belushi’s) in the majority of the pubs – as ever, you are more likely to get served if you are not in colours, not in a large group, and not loudly proclaiming your love of all things ITFC.
Need a cash machine?
The nearest cash machine with free withdrawals is situated by the parade of shops just to the left of the Box Office on South Africa Road. There are also cash machines outside the Tesco Express, next to the BBC Media Village or outside the Sainsbury’s on Bloemfontein Road, as well as in Westfield and around Shepherds Bush Green. Being London, of course, most pubs and bars will expect you to pay using a contactless debit card.
At the ground
Stewards at the away end will do security checks with bag searches in operation. From experience this is usually very thorough. After the match, police tend to be quite vigilant and expect away fans to exit the ground in an orderly fashion.
Tickets are being sold for the upper tier of the School End. Entrance is through Turnstile Block 2 which is on Ellerslie Road.
There are 10 wheelchair spaces in section Z6 of the School End lower tier. Entrance is through Turnstile Block 1 in the middle of Ellerslie Road – this provides step less access without the incline that exists through Turnstile Block 2.
At the end of the game fans will exit on to South Africa Road.
Ticket availability on the day
Tickets will not be available to purchase on the day.
Ticket queries on the day
If you have any questions regarding your ticket on the day of the match you will need to go to the Box Office which is located on the South Africa Road side of the stadium.
Programmes will be on sale outside the ground at £3.00.
Food and Drink facilities
From previous experience in the away end you will find the usual football food. We understand that alcohol will be on sale to Town fans.
Smoking is not allowed in the stadium. This includes e-cigarettes.
Anti Social Behaviour – Matchday Text Line
If you experience any anti social behaviour; foul, abusive, homophobic or racist language the matchday incident reporting number for calls and texts is 07557 435421 - this is prominently displayed throughout the match on main board.
