Tom began his career in the Tottenham Hotspur academy, rising through their ranks before signing a professional contract in June 2010.

In 2011 he completed a loan move to Leyton Orient where he featured 14 times, including twice against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Derby County, QPR and Swansea City were all other loan moves Tom was to make, with the latter signing him permanently in January 2017.

Tom made a total of 74 appearances for Swansea and had a loan spell at Aston Villa in 2018, although the move was cut short due to a season-ending hip injury.

He left Swansea in January 2018 and re-joined QPR, where he made 22 appearances in the 2020/21 season.

Tom then became Town's 16th signing of the summer transfer window ahead of the 2021/22 season, penning a one-year deal at Portman Road.

He made his Blues debut away to Cheltenham in August 2021.
