Goalscorer Freddie on a vital win for Blues as relegation fears ease

Freddie Sears was delighted to get on the scoresheet but said all that counted was getting the three points against Wigan.

The striker struck twice in the 3-0 win, with David McGoldrick also on target as Blues moved nine points clear of the drop zone.

“The main thing before the game was to get the win tonight, however it came,” he told Ipswich Player HD.

“Thankfully it’s come in a good way, we’ve scored three goals and kept a clean sheet so it’s a job well done really.

“It was a real team performance, and every player played to their maximum in the end.

“I believe if I play up front I will score goals. Thankfully I’ve got two tonight and hopefully I can get a couple more before the end of the season now.

“The main thing tonight was to get the three points, but for me personally, it was nice to get a brace, so I’m delighted with that.”
