OVERWHELMING RESPONSE TO #PACKOUTPR

17 November 2021

And first-team squad confirm their support through donations

Almost 20,000 home tickets have already been snapped up for the match against Sunderland on Saturday, 18 December.

The visit of the Black Cats is the first of three festive fixtures incorporated into the #PackOutPR campaign.

The initiative seeks to build an unforgettable atmosphere for the Portman Road, with Sunderland as well as those against Wycombe (Wednesday, 29 December) and Lincoln (Saturday, 1 January).

The trio of Christmas matches, which are available at an affordable £40 bundle for adults, only went on general sale yesterday but the response from the Blue Army has already been phenomenal - many of those purchased tickets for the Sunderland clash being as part of the package deal.

Town supporters have come together on social media to raise £12,500 for fans who are less fortunate financially and ensuring that they do not miss out on the experience over the Christmas period.

An initial idea by Town supporter, Matt Cattee, who wanted to ‘make someone's Christmas’, snowballed into an incredible amount of money being raised in aid of Volunteering Matters, which was led by fellow Town fan, Richard Moss.

Inspired by the generosity from the Club's supporters, Town’s manager, coaching staff and first-team squad will purchase tickets for supporters who may not have been able to otherwise attend.

Town CEO Mark Ashton, reflecting on the campaign so far, said: “I said when we launched #PackOutPR that it was a call to action to the supporters. They’ve met that call - and then some.

“I would like to thank the incredible generosity shown by supporters to raise that amount of money so others less fortunate can come to Portman Road.

"To have sold almost 20,000 tickets for a match which is still over a month away is truly incredible.

“As I’ve said multiple times before, we can only do this together - so I’m pleased that Paul, his staff and the players will also be doing their bit to support the cause and the Community they are all so proud to represent and be a part of.”
