Leicester loanee scores a screamer, but it can't help secure a victory as Town kick-off 2017 with a defeat
Tom Lawrence showed his disappointment as, despite being the better side, Town fell to defeat against QPR at Loftus Road.
The midfielder scored a cracker just after half-time to equalise after Idrissa Sylla had given the R’s a lead, but it was to be in vain as Pawel Wszolek scored the winner with just over five minutes to play.
“I felt if any team was going to win the game it was going to be us, but we couldn’t find the second goal,” Tom told Ipswich Player HD.
“It’s tough because we were on top of them throughout the second-half so hopefully we can learn from this and go again on Saturday [against Lincoln].
“It’s frustrating because we know we played well but we conceded two sloppy goals so we’re disappointed again.
“It’s always nice to score but at the end of the day, we’ve not got any points from it so it doesn’t really count for much.
“We played well but we couldn’t close the game out so we need to work on that and get back to winning ways again as soon as we can.”
